It's the Friends system that saves a copy of the incoming email addresses
from known senders.
Once a known good sender is on the list, Surgemail thereafter no longer
processes emails through Aspam.
The list then becomes a backup of an account's Address Book - should it ever
be needed, like a computer crash.
If nothing else, put checkmarks in:
g_friends_always
g_friends_at_rcpt
The Friends setting should be "Apply friends list but don't block anything
or request confirmation."

On SpamControl page - Advanced
g_spam_userconfig; unchecked (ours is checked here, but start unchecked)
g_spam_subject: 8
g_spam_subject_word: [Spam||score||] (replaces all those stars with a
number, duhhh)
g_smite_skip_auth: prevents your own users emails from being scanned for
spam content
g_spam_body: You can skip this, but ours is set to 3. It displays the
Spamdetect headers at top of emails so our customers don't miss it.
g_spam_body_url - ours is 1USA SpamDetect Info: More info at
http://www.1usa.com/email/spamdetectinfo.html
g_spam_bounce_text - ours is 550 LOOKS LIKE SPAM. CLEAN UP THE MESSAGE AND
SEND AGAIN.

The rest of our settings in the Aspam section are either blank or don't
apply to your question.
